hardscape design and specification
Hardscapes are typically designed by the Architect along with a building on the site, due to technical issues. As a licensed Architect, Martin can provide those services and coordinate the technical issues of the hardscape with the artistic design of the softscape.
As a sub-consultant to other professionals, Martin can also provide for all site development design outside the building footprint. Along with the plan drawing(s), written specification are provided to further direct the contractor with performance requirements.
Planting Design and Specification
Over the years Martin has developed a palette of plants for selection, which creates a theme for the client’s project in our desert setting. Plants of a drought-tolerant character are typically selected, when planted away from a building. More lush/ornamental plants are selected, when located near a building and in courtyards. Along with the plan drawing(s), written specification are provided to further direct the contractor with performance requirements.
Irrigation Design and Specification
Martin believes that the irrigation design is the most important service of delivery, since a beautiful design of plantings will not endure, if the irrigation is done poorly. Having apprenticed in the design of spray and bubbler systems in the 1970’s, systems have evolved to drip irrigation systems with limited areas of spray irrigation today. Few designers have the years and range of design experience that Martin can provide. Along with the plan drawing(s), written specification are provided to further direct the contractor with performance requirements.
Cost Estimating
With each phase of the design delivery, an updated construction cost estimate is provided. The cost estimated is updated to reflect the changes in the design.
